“When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light” is the seventh studio album by the Finnish band. Their style is mix of Melodic Doom with Death Metal and other metal tunes.
The album was Released in January 25, 2019 via Century Media,
This new record is full of emotions. Principally because of the early death of Aleah from TREES of ETERNITY, wife of the main composer, the guitarist Juha Raivio, is reflected in both the painful lyrics and the melancholy melodies.
The album begins with the homonymous song "When A Shadow Is Forced into The Light", a totally melodic theme from beginning to end: clean and ripped voices, atmospheric keyboards, harmonious and calm sound. A Total masterpiece of this guys.
Then "The Crimson Crown" continues with a slower rhythm than the previous one, a more doom song, thanks to its powerful main riff.
In "Firelights", the powerful voice of Mikko Kotamäki appears in all its harmonic splendor dominating the gutturals and the most melodic voices at will. Which make it an incredible song and one of the best on the album.
"Stone Wings", is a perfect song of the Doom Death with melodic tones captured in emotion as in "Clouds on Your Side" but with a sound. Gothic.
The album closes with "Here on The Black Earth" and with "Never Left", two songs worthy of what the band wanted to reflect on the album.
The record is a great work of the Finns. Although different, given the circumstances, its melodic origins are always present in each chord for every second of music. They do not forget their origins of Doom Death, but in "When A Shadow Is Forced into The Light" they predominate more restful sounds, clear voices, and even more emotional atmospheres. That in my opinion is positive change and that makes this a really special album
